Tourage

Tourage (born in France) has been painting for more than 15 years but it is only in 2015 that he decided to present his work to the public.

Tourage is an abstract painter using, as a base, series of monochromatics layers of paint applied on 7X7 squares.

In the VARIATION 1 series the squares are covered, one by one, either by a thick solid color or by a contrasting one creating a bicolor painting based on a geometric pattern.  Then the entire painting is covered by different shades of the main solid color in order to create the impression of a monocolor painting.

The regularity of the squares is less visible and an impression of monochromatic quietness is achieved.

In the VARIATION 2 series, the 7X7 base is the same and the process of covering each square with a single thick solid color is repeated several times - using different colors each time - in order to create a new monocolor painting.  But the finishing coat is thinner and showing more or less the last underlying color creating a dialogue between the 2 colors.

VARIATION 3 is based on the same 7X7 grid and layers of solid colors but the final coat is applied with total freedom braking totally the underlying geometric organization.  The painting ends with a free dialogue between 2 main colors and opposite shapes.

VARIATION 4 reversed the process.  The last grid is completely cover by the final color then partially taken away with various "tools".  In Tourage's work there is a permanent temptation of monocolor paintings.

Tourage works in Paris.
